South African businesswomen and entrepreneurs stand a chance of this year walking away with a prestigious international award that recognises women entrepreneurs.  Previous winners of this award include powerful women in business and entrepreneurship in South Africa.

This award is named after a leading entrepreneur who aged 27 and widowed went on to become an important voice in women entrepreneurship in France in the 19th century. She opened doors for many a woman business person to enter the field of business without fear and boldly build successful businesses. Her name is Madame is Veuve Clicquot

Ever since this award has been extended to South Africa, a number of bold business women have clinched this award including last year’s winners Gugu Sithole and Captain

The Veuve Clicquot Bold Woman Award, the first and longest-running international award of its kind, is now open for entries in South Africa.

“This year, we celebrate 51 years of acknowledging trailblazing women in business around the world. Over to you to nominate yourself, or to encourage your network of bold businesswomen in South Africa to enter the renowned Veuve Clicquot Bold Woman Award via the global website.

In 1805, widowed at the age of 27 years old, Madame Clicquot went on to revolutionise an entire industry. An exceptional achievement in a time when women couldn’t open their own bank account, let alone independently own or run a business. Drawing inspiration from Madame Clicquot’s entrepreneurial story, let’s celebrate South African women in business who are changing the game within their sector and boldly breaking glass ceilings,” reads a statement from the oragnisers.

“Share your bold business journey, and join a global community of over 450 winners celebrated in 27 countries to date. As we connected with you in the past through South Africa’s first edition of VeuveClicquot Bold Woman Award, we want to continue on the journey with you in 2023 – and for years to come!
