Media professional Mmoni Seapolelo’s rise and rise to acting group executive corporate affairs and marketing

There is no doubt that one of the rising starts at the South African Broadcasting Corporation is one Momoni Seapolelo who over the years has assumed important communications positions at the public broadcaster.

A solidly qualified media professional with a string of qualifications in the journalism and communications fields, her star continues to rise at the SABC.

Her latest appointment is that of acting group executive corporate affairs and marketing, a position that enjoys a high public profile, but quite demanding as in this new position she will have to manage a number of interests from diverse stakeholders. She also has to manage public expectations among other roles.

“SABC is pleased to announce the new Acting Group Executive Corporate Affairs and Marketing Ms Mmoni Seapolelo effective 1 February 2023.
 
Mmoni comes with vast experience in the media industry spanning over 15 years and has held various positions within the SABC with increased responsibility over the years. These positions include Producer for Current Affairs programme, Leihlo La Sechaba, Media Relations Officer, Communications Manager for the SABC in the North-West Province and Acting Marketing Manager for SABC Sport. Ms Seapolelo also served as the Acting General Manager for Media Relations as well as the SABC Spokesperson from 2019 until 2021,” said the SABC in a media statement.
 
Seapolelo holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from University of Johannesburg (UJ), with a full dissertation on the SABC’s public service mandate in a multi-platform and multi-device environment.
 
She has also obtained Bachelor of Arts in Communications degree and B. Administration Honours (Industrial Psychology) from the North-West University. In addition, she has an Honours degree, Bachelor of Arts in Communication Theory. She has also completed the SABC’s People Management Programme with the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
